PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is the biggest animal rights organization group in the world, with over 3 million supporters.
They mainly focus on areas in which the largest amount of animals suffer for the longest periods of time such as factory farms, in laboratories, the clothing trade and in the entertainment industry. They aim to emphasize the importance of animal rights through protests, literature and their extreme publicity stunts.
There's been debates questioning PETA's actions. They have passed laws and such to stop cruelty to animals such as having the military ban the use of dogs, cats and primates in wound experiments and training. More recently they have stopped more than 110 companies like H&M and Calvin Klein from selling angora rabbit wool. Being someone who has a passion for animals, I am extremely grateful that they have made these breakthroughs in animal rights.
However, they have also done some things, that are not particularly helping the animals, but instead making PETA seem crazy. For this post, I will be talking about something I discovered about PETA, something unreasonable they have done.
PETA highlights the importance of the vegetarian and vegan lifestyle, and shames people who eat meat. PETA has had a long standing hatred for Kentucky fried chicken. They claim that KFC brutally slaughters the chickens that are served to eat. To express their displeasement, they visited Colonel Harland David Sanders' (KFC founder) burial site. PETA purchased a plot of land close to Col. Sanders grave. They placed a gravestone there with the name Matthew Prescott, who is alive and is an extreme PETA supporter. The gravestone was approved by the cemetery as it seemed like a beautiful farewell to Sanders. Picture below.

At closer inspection, the first letters of each line (highlighted in red) spell out "KFC TORTURES BIRDS". The cemetery director eventually realized this and removed the stone and banned PETA from the cemetery.
The fact that PETA would go through all this trouble to simply mock and hate on KFC to the founder that is DEAD, is unbelievable. It is extemely disrespectful and childish to do this.
PETA has done many, many things like this. Stupid publicity stunts.
PETA will probably be featured on my blog multiple times, there is so much more to talk about.
