Why did you choose this video?
I thought this video best represented my writing skills, and also what I'm capable of with my creativity. To begin with, I thought this project would have amazing results. And it did. I watched other classmates videos, and they were very interesting. This assignment really makes you bring out your creativity. It took me a while to get the editing right, and do the voice over without interruption, so once I was successful with it, I felt very proud. I feel as if I worked hard on this, and it paid off.
I've always wanted to edit a video the way I did for this, and it was a lot of fun. I walked around my house and took videos of random things, that could possibly look nice for my video. Then later, I went outside for a good 1 or 2 hour(s) and filmed anything I could find. Not only did I get footage for this project, but I also finally left my house, and simply enjoyed it. No phones, or people with me. Just nature and the camera. I could appreciate the world for what it was.
I enjoyed every part of making this video: coming up with the metaphor, shooting, and editing. I feel as though I worked hard for this. I chose this video over the others because I feel like I put my time and effort into something worthwhile.

Why this metaphor, how did you come up with it and what does it mean?
Addiction is like saltwater.
I came up with this metaphor while watching Parks and Rec actually. Not 30 minutes earlier I was thinking and thinking about what my metaphor could be. I had a couple of concepts I wanted to use, such as obsession and fear. I tried linking things with those two, but I couldn't find one good enough. At one point I was stuck on the idea of "fear is like a house cactus". I know it sounds horrible, but I had some meaning behind it, and made it work into a deep(ish) metaphor. But even though I had some explanation for it, I wasn't satisfied.
Usually when I think too much, I get overwhelmed, making thinking even harder. So, I will distract myself by reading, or listening to music. Luckily that day, I had a half finished episode of Parks and Rec, so I turned it on to finish it. With the metaphor still in the back of my mind, I don't know how it happened, but I thought of the word saltwater. Immediately I opened my google doc and wrote it down. Then it evolved to the metaphor I have now.
I like this metaphor. Unlike the other metaphors I came up with, addiction can be like saltwater in more than one way. There are a variety of ways to explain this metaphor, in order for it to make sense. Such as salt water is everywhere, and so is addiction, and that the more you drink of saltwater or "drink" of addiction, the thirstier you get.
I wanted to create a metaphor to more darker topics, instead of love or happiness. I felt like there were already many metaphors to those topics, so I wanted to create something a bit different.
