As a kid I surprisingly loved bugs. I'd go outside to look for them, then bring them home as pets. I even had bug bed sheets, and I giant leaf hanging over my bed. I don't know what happened in my life to cause a giant shift from loving bugs to being absolutely terrified of them.
Arachnophobia - The fear of spiders
I think when people think of phobias, this is one of the first ones that come to their minds. It's extremely common. My fear of spiders has been there for as long as I can remember. I know my fear is really pointless, those small creatures can't harm you. But every time I see one, picture or real life, I get chills. I can't stand looking at them, let alone being around them. Spiders are the reason I've began fearing going to the cottage. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE. Not only are they everywhere but they are huge. I don't know if cottage air has some kind of chemical that mutates the spiders, but they're huge.
One really haunting memory will always stick with me. I was living in an old rental house for a couple months -it was known as the 'haunted house' of the neighbourhood, but that's a whole other story- and this house was filled with spiders. FILLED. Due to the lack of available rooms, I had to stay in the basement. The basement was Most of the spiders that were in our house were small, brown common house spiders. But in one part of the basement, where I never went, was where the huge, black, creepy spiders were.
One day, I went to my bedroom after school to drop off my backpack. I put it in the usual corner. When I turned around to go back upstairs, something caught my eye. Right above my desk there was a giant, black spider. I froze in my tracks and just stared, I didn't know what to do. After about a full on minute of staring at the spider, trying to wish it away, I ran to the bathroom. I tried to go as fast as I could to get a piece of toilet paper. I was planning to grab the spider with it, maybe try and put it outside. When I got back to my room, I had the adrenaline and courage to grab the spider as fast as I could. I walked over to my desk, I looked up ready to plunge myself into picking up the little death monster. BUT IT WASN'T THERE. The spider disappeared. This was horror movie material, I was paranoid it was on the ceiling or something, plotting my death. I didn't sleep in my room for a good month. I instead used the guest room upstairs.
I've been forever -surpisingly- more scared of spiders since then.
Apiphobia - fear of bees
The difference with this insect fear towards the others, is that I'm genuinely just afraid of bees. I'm not disgusted by them or anything. I actually kind of like bees. They give A LOT to the world.
"If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life
left."-Albert Einstein.
I wish I wasn't afraid of them. They're just small, fuzzy things that buzz around minding their own business.

Even though I know they're nice, they won't sting you unless absolutely necessary (or else they will die), I'm still scared of them, Going in my backyard during in the summer is really stressful. My mom loves flowers and trees, shes essentially made a paradise in our backyard, but this means its packed with bees.
One time during the summer I was collecting rocks for my mom. I was behind the house where they hadn't started constructing yet, filling a wheelbarrow with big rocks to decorate her garden with. I brought a speaker back there with me, so I could listen to music while I worked. When I filled the wheelbarrow, I brought it to the backyard. I went back to get my speakers, and as I was walking back to my house, a bee buzzed past me. I dodged it, but then it went past my head again. It came towards me, I could see it right infront of my face. I dove/fell/jumped to the ground. I kind of forgot I was holding my speakers. But somehow the speakers made contact to my face, and I ended up with a black eye.
I really need to control my fears, because I end up hurting myself, trying to get away from something that I think will hurt me.
Spheksophobia - fear of wasps
I think out of all my insect fears, this one is the most rational. Wasps don't do anything compared to bees. They just buzz around and land on your food and sting you. Unlike bees, they don't die when the sting something (unfortunately), so they have nothing to lose.
I've never been stung by bees or wasps, so I think that's why I'm so afraid. Maybe I'm not afraid of the actual wasp, but instead I'm afraid of being stung. Either way, when I see a wasp I try to get away from it as soon as possible.
I've had so many occurrences in which I have drifted from groups of people because a wasp was buzzing around. Just move away until it leaves.
I don't have a big time event in which I've been scared of wasps, it's just always been consistent.
Fear of June Bugs
There isn't an official name to this fear. Although I've heard of a lot of people who have it. June bugs are there nasty beetles, that come out around the summer time (June), at 8pm. They live in trees, and the amount of june bugs that exist in a single tree is insane. June bugs want to come near you. I'm not entirely sure why, but if you walk by some, don't be surprised if one or two come and check you out. What makes it worse, is that they're sticky. So if you get one on you, you have to pull it off forcefully.

I got a dog during the summer, and I always take him on walks at night. But since the june bugs started coming out, I'd either take him out at 6pm or 12am because I couldn't stand being outside at the same time they are. If i ever did go outside around 8, I'd try to walk in the middle of the road, as there are trees on either side of the streets. I was forever surrounded.
I think the way this fear started, was one night when I was younger, maybe 10, my mom and I were outside at night. I don't specifically remember why, but I'm sure it was because we were doing something with my moms garden, Long story short, my mom got a june bug stuck in her hair. I didn't even know what a june bug was back then. She asked me to pull it out for her. I was so close to doing that, but once I got a clear view of it, I chickened out. I actually ran into the house, and locked the door! I don't know what was wrong with me. Maybe I thought locking the door would prevent any June bugs from coming inside. I don't clearly remember what happened after that.
June bugs will be the death of me. I will be in a forest and one will chase me. I'll probably jump off a cliff to get away from it.
Those are just four out of my ten phobias. And trust me, some others are pretty weird.
