Phobias and fears are very different things. Fear is an instinct we have that is there to protect us from danger. Phobias however, have little to do with danger. For example a fear would be feeling anxious when flying through turbulence or taking off during a storm, while a phobia would be not going to your best friend's island wedding because you'd have to fly there.
Phobias are intense, irrational fears that a lot of people have. Many people are aware that their fear is not warranted, but they can't help the feelings.
I personally have quite a lot of phobias. I didn't think I had so many, but as I was researching I realized I had more than I thought. Some of my phobias are really common, others not so much. I started writing about all my phobias on this one blog post, but it became far too long, as there is so much to talk about. I've decided to split up my phobias into a couple separate blog posts. The next couple of blogs will be about my diverse, strange phobias.
